He accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu of deploying state institutions\u2014INEC, security agencies, and anti-graft bodies\u2014to cripple opposition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> \u201cIn their wisdom, my people elected me as a delegate, not because I needed it, but because experience is needed at a time like this,\u201d Lamido stated.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He argued that Nigeria\u2019s democracy hinges on a strong opposition: \u201cIf you destroy the PDP, you are not just destroying a party; you are setting Nigeria on a path to self-destruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201dLamido condemned the alleged weaponization of federal power, warning that such tactics would backfire. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf APC, as a political party, fights the PDP, that\u2019s normal; but when the Federal Government, under APC control, uses national institutions against the opposition, that\u2019s dangerous,\u201d he said.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He singled out the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for targeting dissent, claiming coerced defections to the APC would prove futile. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThose joining the APC out of fear will eventually regret it,\u201d he insisted.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Lamido, Tinubu\u2019s attempts to weaken the PDP are ultimately sabotaging Nigeria itself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDemocracy is built on liberty, freedom, and credible opposition.
