Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has said he is the most criticised celebrity in Nigeria due to his privileged background.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking on the Culture Knock Out podcast, the singer revealed that public perception shifted after it became known that he came from a wealthy family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIn the beginning, people didn\u2019t know my father was rich. By the time they found out, I had already released three hit songs,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The FIA crooner noted that had his background been public knowledge earlier, it could have affected his rise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added, \u201cOver time, people started hating me because my dad is rich. But I just wanted to do music, and I\u2019ve kept at it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Davido also noted that criticism often comes with success. \u201cOnce you become the biggest in anything, people will criticise you,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
