The All Progressives Congress (APC) has sharply criticized former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai for his recent anti-government remarks, advising him to focus on personal development rather than early politicking for the 2027 elections. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Why is he in a hurry? 2027 is far. The guidelines for the 2027 elections won’t be out until February 2026,” said APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru in a Sunday interview with Tribune Newspaper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“El-Rufai should go and find a job to do. He can go back to school to enrich his knowledge, or play with his grandchildren.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The rebuke came after El-Rufai, now an ADC chieftain, told party faithful in Sokoto that Nigeria couldn’t survive another APC term. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I didn’t join politics to enrich myself but to serve. When leadership fails the people, it becomes the duty of every patriotic citizen to stand up and act. That’s what I’m doing and I will not stop,” El-Rufai had declared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Basiru dismissed the comments as unnecessary distractions, emphasizing that “We are too busy fixing our party, and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is busy with governance. He should not distract us.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
