{"id":27513,"date":"2025-11-05T05:07:59","date_gmt":"2025-11-05T05:07:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fctnewsgazette.com\/?p=27513"},"modified":"2025-11-05T07:12:17","modified_gmt":"2025-11-05T07:12:17","slug":"more-voices-against-trumps-threat-to-attack-nigeria-continue-to-grow-louder-within-the-us","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fctnewsgazette.com\/?p=27513","title":{"rendered":"More Voices Against Trump&#8217;s Threat to Attack Nigeria  Continue to Grow Louder Within the US"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As few Nigerians within and outside  the country continue to hail and celebrate President Trump&#8217;s threat to attack their sovereign mother land, many discerning voices within the United States have continued to grow louder in support of the most populous black nation in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These discerning voices that are mostly American citizens and who are strongly opposed to President Trump and his pro-war hawks, have been calling on all Nigerians, irrespective of religious inclination, to realise that Trump is just a capitalist who does not have any spiritual business with christianity or Christians, is only using the &#8216;Christianity Card&#8217; to deceive Nigeria&#8217;s real Christians who are believed to be among the most innocent and sincere men and women of God that believe and worship Jesus christ in today&#8217;s world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a related development US lawmakers have blasted Trump, saying threatening military action against Nigeria irresponsible, reckless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The members of parliament, Gregory W. Meeks and Sara Jacobs, have condemned President Donald Trump\u2019s recent threat to cut off aid and launch military action against Nigeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr Trump had recently threatened to take military action against Nigeria over alleged persecution of Christians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But Mr Meeks, a ranking member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and Ms Jacobs, ranking member of the Africa Subcommittee, described the comments as \u201cirresponsible and reckless.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a joint statement on Monday, the lawmakers also rejected the Nigerian designation as a \u201cCountry of Particular Concern\u201d by the Trump administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Trump administration\u2019s designation of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern ignores the complex reality of violence there,\u201d the lawmakers said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cClashes between farmers are many but not all of whom are Christian\u2014and herders are driven by resource scarcity and land competition, not religion alone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They noted that terrorist groups have killed both Christians and Muslims across the country, particularly in the predominantly Muslim north, which continues to face violent attacks by criminal gangs commonly referred to as bandits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAll Nigerians deserve protection, and we know President Tinubu recognizes the importance of interfaith harmony and is working to address this challenge,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The lawmakers further criticized Mr Trump\u2019s remarks threatening to \u201cdefend Christians\u201d through possible military intervention, calling it a \u201creckless response to distorted facts\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt is incredibly irresponsible of President Trump to threaten military action. Providing security support is one thing; threatening military intervention is another matter entirely.
