Leader of the Islamic Movement, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky has received a visit by a delegation of Muslim and Christian community leaders from the Nasarawa neighborhood of Kaduna State, yesterday at his Abuja residence. The group included religious and community leaders such as Mr. Zakari (CAN representative, Chikun Local Government), Alh. Aliyu Mai Lafiya (Chiroman Nasarawa), Mr. Dominic (Senior Pastor, Catholic Church, Nasarawa), and Sheikh Alaramma Jabir Muhammad (Chief Imam, Nasarawa Friday Mosque).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the visit, Sheikh Zakzaky spoke about the importance of peaceful coexistence and urged everyone to avoid conflicts in the name of religion or ethnicity. He said Nigerians should not allow anyone to instigate conflict between them, no matter what it may be called, whether in the name of religion or tribe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also explained that Christians are referred to in the Qur\u2019an as the \u201cPeople of the Book\u201d rather than \u201cArna,\u201d and noted the need for mutual respect and understanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The delegation presented Sheikh Zakzaky with an award recognising him as the first person in Nigeria to call on people to unite and live in peace. He is also recognised as the first scholar in Africa to lead efforts to revive the Qur\u2019anic system in contemporary times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
