The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 18, and Monday, April 21, 2025, as public holidays to mark Good Friday and Easter Monday.

The holidays were announced by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Tuesday in a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.

The minister called on Christians to reflect on the values of sacrifice and love shown by Jesus Christ, who died for the redemption of mankind.

He also enjoined Nigerians to use the holiday period to pray for peace, unity, and stability in the country.

The minister extended his greetings to Christians across the country, wishing them a peaceful and joyous celebration.

Easter is one of the most important events in the Christian calendar, marking the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
