President Bola Tinubu has forwarded a N1.78 trillion budget proposal for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to the House of Representatives for the 2025 fiscal year.

The FCT Appropriation Bill was transmitted in a letter read during Tuesday’s plenary session by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen.

Citing Section 299 of the Nigerian Constitution, which grants the National Assembly legislative powers over the FCT, Tinubu outlined the budget’s priorities. These include healthcare, job creation, social welfare, agricultural expansion, and infrastructure upgrades.

According to the President, 85% of the capital expenditure will be allocated to completing ongoing projects, while the remaining 15% will support new projects.

Tinubu called on lawmakers to expedite their review and approval of the budget to ensure timely implementation.
