The Director of Arewa House Centre for Historical Research and Documentation, Professor Salisu Bala, has come forward to clarify a recent report regarding the alleged sale of the Sardauna’s Clinic and ‘Fives Court’. The report, which claimed that the clinic was sold for N40 million by a former ABU VC and was due for demolition, has been disputed by the Director.

In a telephone interview, Professor Bala explained that there was a mix-up in the story that necessitated his reaction to set the record straight. According to him, the land in question was not sold, but rather leased to a Kaduna-based company, Hafs and Partners, for a period of 10 years under a build, manage, and transfer arrangement.

The Director revealed that the company plans to develop an event center on the land, with a tent capacity of 400 people, and the revenue generated will be shared between Arewa House and the company in a 40:60 ratio. Professor Bala described this arrangement as a win-win partnership that is mutually beneficial to both parties.

Regarding the Sardauna Clinic and Fives Court, the Director assured that the temporary structure to be constructed by Hafs and Partners will not affect the two facilities in any way. With this clarification, the Director has put to rest the speculation surrounding the alleged sale and demolition of the clinic.
