In a significant boost for youth entrepreneurship, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has awarded business grants and equipment to 531 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members.
At a ceremony held in Abuja on Thursday, each beneficiary received N531,000 in seed funding alongside industry-specific starter packs, including furniture-making tools, laptops, fashion design equipment, and beauty care kits.
Representing NNPC’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, Group Chief Operating Officer Mr. Roland Ewubare explained the initiative aligns with the company’s commitment to youth empowerment.
“A tailor cannot sew on the roadside in Garki,” Ewubare stated, emphasizing the practical support being provided. “With the full authority of NNPC Ltd., I’m pleased to announce that each of you will receive N531,000. This figure symbolizes the fresh leadership in Nigeria—reflected in the new management at NNPC and the new NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu.”
The NNPC executive described the empowerment program as proof of the company’s reliability, noting: “The provision of grants and presentation of starter packs as a clear indication that NNPC Ltd keeps its word.”
The initiative, executed in partnership with NYSC, aims to equip young Nigerians with tools to launch sustainable businesses after their service year.
