The Governing Council of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has appointed Professor Muhammad Isa Kida as the institution’s 4th substantive Vice-chancellor.
Prior to his appointment, Professor Kida served as the Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences at the University.
As an accomplished accountant, Kida received his letter of appointment from the Chairman of the FULafia Governing Council, Mrs. Lola Fibisola Akande.
The appointment letter, dated October 29, 2025, stated that Kida’s tenure would last for five years, commencing on February 11, 2026. Mrs. Akande expressed hope that Kida would leverage his wealth of experience to drive the growth and development of the University.
Professor Kida takes over from Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, who will conclude his tenure as Vice-Chancellor in February 2026.
The University’s leadership history includes Professor Ekanem Braide, the Pioneer Vice-Chancellor (2011-2016), followed by Professor M.S. Liman (2016-2021), and then Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman (2021-2026).
