Students of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, have begun to express nostalgia for the tenure of former Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, following an alleged increase in school charges.
This is contained in a post by one MK, which has been trending within the university community, where the author recalled the legacy of Prof. Bala in preventing massive increments in school fees.
According to the post, Prof. Bala served as a guard who protected thousands of students from dropping out during his tenure by rejecting and stopping any proposal for massive increment of school fees because of students’ welfare.
The author claimed that just a year after Prof. Bala left office, the university has increased its school fees by almost 200 per cent.
“Among the legacies that Prof. Kabiru Bala left at ABU was his commitment in preventing massive increments of school charges. Indeed, we have begun to miss your leadership, Daddy. We wish you very much all the best,” the post stated.
