In observance of the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha festivities, the Federal Government has officially declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, as public holidays.
Interior Minister Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo made the announcement through a statement issued by Permanent Secretary Dr. Magdalene Ajani. The Minister extended warm congratulations to Muslim faithful both in Nigeria and abroad for this significant religious occasion.
“I call on the Muslim Ummah to continue to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice and faith as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him),” Tunji-Ojo stated, urging citizens to “use the period to pray for a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.”
The Minister reassured Nigerians of the government’s commitment to transformative reforms, stating these initiatives under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda aim to “restore Nigeria to the path of progress.”
Concluding his message, Tunji-Ojo wished Muslims a joyful celebration while calling for national unity: “I urge all Nigerians to join hands with the present administration in its efforts to restore the glory of Nigeria as a great nation.”
