The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Lokoja, Professor Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, has formally inaugurated the Directorate of Strategic Communication and Corporate Documentation (DSCCD)
Professor Ibileye who emphasised that the Directorate is a key strategic Directorate in the Vice-Chancellor’s office, will be coordinated by Dr Tosin Olagunju as its pioneer Director and by extension is from today, the official voice and image maker of the University
The inauguration which marks a significant milestone in the institution’s ongoing drive toward institutional strengthening and enhanced public engagement, underscores the University’s commitment to professionalizing its communication systems and preserving its corporate heritage.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Professor Ibileye emphasized the critical role of strategic communication in modern university administration. He noted that universities must not only pursue excellence in teaching, research, and community service, but must also effectively communicate their achievements, values, and impact to stakeholders.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, the establishment of the Directorate is a proactive step toward ensuring coherent messaging, safeguarding the University’s reputation, strengthening media relations, enhancing digital presence, and preserving institutional memory through structured documentation.
The Vice-Chancellor charged the new Director and his team with the responsibility of building a dynamic and responsive communication framework that will project the University’s achievements, manage its corporate identity, strengthen stakeholder engagement, and ensure proper archival documentation of institutional milestones.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Ọlágúnjú expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor and Management for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to deploy strategic, innovative, and professional approaches in advancing the mandate of the Directorate.

- Dr. Simon Shehigari as Conventional Media and the Publication Officer
- Dr. Baba Isaac Ibrahim as Executive Documentation Officer
- Mr. Daniel Nwankwo as Protocol Officer
The inauguration of the Directorate represents a bold institutional reform designed to align communication practice with the University’s broader strategic objectives, enhance transparency, and elevate its national and international visibility.
