“No Distractions Will Derail My Infrastructure Focus” – Tinubu Vows

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to national development despite criticism from political opponents, declaring that “naysayers” will not distract his government from delivering critical infrastructure projects.

Speaking Wednesday at the commissioning of the Arterial Road N16 (Shehu Shagari Way) and connecting routes in Abuja’s Katampe District, Tinubu emphasized infrastructure as the foundation for Nigeria’s economic transformation.

“We will continue to serve the people, no matter how much the naysayers pursue their politics,” the President declared, adding: “Infrastructure is not a luxury; it is a necessity. It is the bedrock of national competitiveness, growth, social integration, and economic opportunity.”

The newly commissioned project – linking Ring Road One (Nnamdi Azikiwe Way) to Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Road) – represents what Tinubu called “tangible proof” of his administration’s development philosophy since taking office in May 2023.

“This project represents more than a stretch of asphalt; it affirms our commitment to urban transformation under our Renewed Hope Agenda. The corridor was underdeveloped for years, despite its central role in the Abuja master plan. Today, that narrative has changed,” Tinubu stated.

The President outlined his administration’s comprehensive infrastructure strategy, stressing that “only through investment in critical infrastructure such as roads, rail, power, healthcare, and education, and coordinated and integrated development, that the country’s full potential could be unlocked.”

He praised FCT Minister Nyesom Wike’s leadership in delivering the project, which is expected to ease traffic congestion in Central Abuja while stimulating economic growth in developing districts like Katampe and Jahi. Addressing area residents, Tinubu urged community ownership of the new infrastructure: “The road belongs to the community and citizens of Abuja and us as the federal government. I urge you to protect it and use it wisely.”

The President concluded with a firm commitment to his development agenda: “As I commission this road, N16, to the glory of God Almighty, I reaffirm our commitment that we will continue to build, we will continue to serve the people.”

The ceremony marked another milestone in the administration’s infrastructure push, coming weeks after similar project commissions across the country as part of Tinubu’s pledge to accelerate national development.
