FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has staunchly defended renaming Abuja’s International Conference Centre after President Bola Tinubu, calling it a “well-deserved honour” during Thursday’s commissioning of the completed Apo-Wassa road.

“If Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport wasn’t built by Azikiwe, and Moshood Abiola Stadium wasn’t built by Abiola, what’s wrong in naming the ICC after a President delivering results?” Wike challenged critics.

The minister highlighted the 15km road project – abandoned since 2017 but completed under this administration – as evidence of Tinubu’s impact: “President Tinubu said no more abandoned projects, not under my watch.”

Wike dismissed detractors, saying: “There are people who choose to be blind to progress. If you won’t see, then be blind. I will defend my boss. If you’re unhappy, stay angry – but Abuja is moving forward.”

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, commissioning another road project, reinforced the message: “Nobody will remember you for answering critics, but for legacies left behind.”
