Former Secretary General, Barewa College Old Boys Association (BOBA) and Chairman Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN), Professor Ahmed Tijjani Mora, has been appointed the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council, Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State, Nigeria.
Professor Mora and other members of the 7th Council were inaugurated on Thursday July 10, 2025 in Benin City. IUO is the first private university in Nigeria established in 1999.
The DEFENDER reports that the Zazzau Emirate Council had last Friday July 4, 2025 commended the renewal of appointment of Professor Ahmed Mora, the Wakilin Maganin Zazzau, as council member of the Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State.
“It is with great pleasure that we announce the renewal of Wakilin Maganin Zazzau, Professor Ahmed Tijjani Mora’s appointment as a Council Member of Igbinedion University, Okada, for a further period of three years,” the Emirate said.
It disclosed that Mora has been serving on the council since 2022 and previously contributed to the Board of Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital (IUTH), Okada, from 2020 to 2022.
Ahmed Mora holds a Bachelor of Sciences degree (Pharmacy) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto.
He is a Member of National Institute (mni), a Fellow of the West African Post-graduate College of Pharmacists (FWAPCPharm) and a Fellow of Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), and has undertaken several professional and management courses in various universities and institutes including Harvard University, Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
Mora led the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) as Registrar/CEO from October 2003 to January 2012 to execute a radical restructuring and transformation of the PCN into a global player in pharmacy regulation.
He is former President (Worldwide) of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Alumni Association (2015-2021) and National Chairman of the Conference of Alumni Associations of Nigerian Universities (CAANU).
Mora was earlier a foundation Dean and pioneer Head, Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Management, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kaduna State University (KASU), Kaduna and, was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari as Chairman Governing Council of the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) where he served from June 2020 through June, 2023 when all Boards and Councils of Parastatals of the Federal Government were dissolved.
Aside being the Wakilin Zazzau, Professor Ahmed Tijjani Mora also holds the title of K’ayayen Sarkin Musulmi in Sokoto and is holder of National Honour of the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
