The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has firmly refuted a circulating rumor claiming the cancellation of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), calling the report entirely false.

WAEC’s Public Relations Officer, Moyo Adesina, dismissed the alleged statement attributed to the Federal Ministry of Education as completely unfounded.

“The statement is not only fictitious, but a figment of the imagination of the purveyors of such news item,” Adesina stated, addressing reporters. She confirmed that the examination process remains on track, with marking nearing completion and results expected soon.

“The marking of the exam scripts is being concluded and the results would be made public soon,” she added.

Adesina urged the public to disregard the misleading report, assuring that WAEC would release an official statement later in the day to provide further clarity.

“We call on the public to disregard it,” she reiterated.

The council reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining the credibility of the WASSCE and ensuring timely result releases for candidates across the region.
