President Bola Tinubu has expressed Nigeria’s solidarity with Ghana following a devastating helicopter crash that killed eight people, including two cabinet ministers. In a Wednesday statement conveyed by Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described the accident as “a profound national loss” for Ghana.

The ill-fated flight claimed the lives of Defence Minister Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, and six other passengers in what has become one of Ghana’s worst aviation disasters in recent memory.

“President Tinubu assures President Mahama and all Ghanaians that the thoughts and prayers of the government and people of Nigeria are with them during this time of profound national loss,”the statement read.

President Tinubu encouraged grieving citizens to find solace in the officials’ patriotic service, adding: “He urges the Ghanaian nation and the bereaved families and friends to find comfort in the knowledge that their loved ones died in the line of patriotic service to the country.”

Tinubu concluded with prayers for the departed souls and strength for survivors, as both nations mourn this tragic loss of public servants.
