The former Governor of Kaduna State, His Excellency Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has once again been reminded that his political relevance is rapidly fading into oblivion.

It will be recalled that on June 21, 2021, during his tenure as the powerful sitting Governor of Kaduna State, El-Rufai presided over the Sabon Gari State Constituency by-election. Despite deploying the full weight of state power, his candidate, Musa Ahmed Musa, polled 7,404 votes, losing to Usman Alibaba of the PDP who scored 9,113 votes. That moment marked the beginning of El-Rufai’s steady political decline.

Fast forward to August 16, 2025: history repeated itself, only this time the humiliation was more profound. El-Rufai and his so-called coalition were handed what can best be described as a technical knockout by his successor, a visionary leader, a compassionate democrat, a consummate reformer, and the 2024 ThisDay Governor of the Year in Nigeria, His Excellency Senator Uba Sani, CON.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) secured a clean sweep in the three by-elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) across Kaduna State:

Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency

APC (Felix Bagudu): 34,580 votes

PDP: 11,491 votes

BREAKDOWN:

KAJURU LGA → APC: 10,487 | PDP: 6,789

CHIKUN LGA → APC: 24,093 | PDP: 4,702

Historic First: APC won Kajuru and Chikun, PDP strongholds since 1999.

ZARIA KEWAYE STATE CONSTITUENCY:

APC (Isa Haruna Ihamo): 26,613 votesSDP: 5,721 votes

PDP: 5,331 votes

BASAWA STATE CONSTITUENCY :

APC: 10,926 votes

PDP: 5,499 votes

These results are not just statistics; they represent a decisive mandate. For the first time in history, the APC penetrated long-standing PDP fortresses, while also consolidating its dominance in Zaria. The message from the people is unmistakable: Kaduna stands with Governor Uba Sani.

The by-election outcome is a resounding vote of confidence in Governor Uba Sani and an equally resounding vote of no confidence in El-Rufai’s coalition. Kaduna citizens have spoken clearly, El-Rufai is no longer a political asset but a heavy liability.

The message from Kaduna is unambiguous: the State is a no-go area for El-Rufai’s camp and their desperate allies. The people stand firmly behind Governor Uba Sani, rain or shine, because they see in him a leader who is building a Kaduna that works for all, not just a privileged few.

We profoundly appreciate the Almighty God and the resilient people of Kaduna State for once again affirming their loyalty, love, and unwavering support for the People’s Governor, Senator Uba Sani, CON.

El-Rufai’s embarrassment in the August 16, 2025 by-election is not just a political setback; it is a clear preview of 2027. Unless he retreats into political retirement, what awaits him and his co-travelers is certain, a resounding disgrace at the polls.
