Professor Bello Sabo of the Faculty of Administration of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has emerged as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, while Professor Raymond B Bako has been endorsed for a second term as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic.
The duo emerged during the University’s Senate meeting today (Thursday, 28th August, 2025), and presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof Adamu Ahmed, unanimously endorsed both Sabo and Bako for their respective positions.
Professor Sabo, a renowned scholar and administrator, is currently a Professor of Business Administration at ABU. He has had a distinguished career, serving in various administrative positions, including Dean of the Faculty of Administration. With over two decades of experience in academia, Prof Sabo has established himself as a leading expert in his field, with numerous publications and presentations to his credit.
As DVC Administration, Prof Sabo will replace Prof Ahmed Doko Ibrahim, whose tenure will come to an end on Sunday, 31st August, 2025. Sabo’s appointment is subject to approval by the University Governing Council. If approved, he will assume office and provide leadership and vision to the university’s administrative affairs.
Meanwhile, Prof Bako’s endorsement for a second term as DVC Academic is also subject to approval by the Governing Council. As the Centre Leader of the Africa Centre of Excellence on New Pedagogies in Engineering Education (ACENPEE), Prof Bako has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and a deep understanding of academic affairs.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed, congratulated both Sabo and Bako on their emergence and wished them success in their new roles. He also congratulated Prof Ahmed Doko Ibrahim on the successful completion of his second and final term as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration. The university community looks forward to the leadership and vision that both Sabo and Bako will bring to their respective positions.
