Senate President Godswill Akpabio and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) have extended warm greetings to the Muslim community in Nigeria as they celebrate Eid el-Maulud, the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad.
In a message delivered through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Eseme Eyiboh, Senator Akpabio encouraged Muslims to use the occasion to reflect on and emulate the Prophet’s “life of peace, love and service to humanity.”
In a similar spirit of interfaith solidarity, CAN also congratulated the Muslim faithful. In a statement signed by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, the association highlighted the universal relevance of the Prophet’s teachings.
The statement noted that the occasion “offers all Nigerians a moment of reflection on the values of humility, compassion, justice and devotion to God, which the prophet exemplified,” adding that such values “transcend religious boundaries and point us towards building a society anchored on peace, fairness and mutual respect.”
Archbishop Okoh also turned the nation’s attention to its current challenges, noting that Nigeria is at a “critical crossroad” marked by governance challenges and economic hardship.
He used the opportunity to call on the country’s leadership, urging them to “use this solemn season to embrace justice in their decisions, ease the burdens of hardship on citizens and foster policies that strengthen unity and uphold the dignity of every Nigerian.”
