In a show of support for Nigeria’s youth, Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to curbing youth unemployment and boosting the well-being of Nigerians.
Akume made these remarks during a courtesy call from the newly elected Nigerian Youth Council (NYC) leadership, headed by Comrade Jethro Annum, at his Abuja office.
Commending the youthful delegation for their unity, Akume highlighted President Tinubu’s proactive measures to ease economic challenges and unlock opportunities for young Nigerians.
“As a youth-friendly government, we will continue to support you in all your activities, including the provision of a befitting secretariat and logistics support to aid your nationwide efforts in coordinating, sensitizing, and empowering Nigerian youths to take advantage of our laudable initiatives,” Akume declared.
NYC Board Chairman Dr. Yakubu Shendam expressed gratitude for the government’s warm welcome and steadfast backing. He pledged the youth’s allegiance to the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, spotlighting programs like the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and other empowerment efforts.
“As youths, we are excited by these achievements and want to openly identify and partner with the government to ensure peace, security, and development of the country,” Shendam affirmed.
He also praised the administration’s economic strides, stating, “From an empty treasury, the visionary leadership of the current administration has grown our foreign reserves to over $50 billion. This is laudable, and we are proud of this monumental feat.”
