The Ambassador of Russian Federation in Nigeria, A.L. Podelyshev, reaffirmed his country’s commitment to supporting Nigeria.
Speaking this evening at a reception to mark the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Nigeria, the Ambassador who highlighted the strong historical ties between the two countries, noted that Russia was among the first countries to recognize Nigeria’s independence in 1960 and has since provided support for the country’s economic development and democratic transitions.
“We will continue to support Nigeria as it works to achieve its development goals and address the challenges of the 21st century.”
The Ambassador said. “Russia has always stood by Nigeria in times of need, and we will continue to do more in line with our bilateral agreement.”
The Ambassador noted that Russia and Nigeria have cooperated in various fields, including energy, education, science, agriculture, and culture. He expressed optimism that the two countries will deepen their partnership in the years to come.
The reception was attended by Nigerian government officials, diplomats, and representatives of the business community, all of whom praised the strong ties between the two countries.
