All is set by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Nigeria, under the leadership of Ambassador Andrey I. Poldelyshev, to host a grand reception for diplomats and selected dignitaries as part of the events organized annually to commemorate Russia’s Victory Day.

This year’s reception which is the first to be organized by Ambassador Podelyshev and Mrs D. Podelysheva has been slated for Wednesday, May 7th, 2025.

The reception will take place by 18:00, at the Embassy of the Russian Federation on Plot 1119, Constitution, Central Business District, Abuja.

Russian Embassies across the globe used to mark Victory Day on May 9th with a series of events and ceremonies to commemorate the Soviet Union’s triumph over Nazi Germany in World War II. The celebrations are usually used to showcase Russia’s enduring pride in its historical achievements.

Some Embassies are used to organize military parades and exhibitions to showcase Russia’s military might and honor the brave soldiers who fought in the war. Cultural events, such as concerts and film screenings, also used to be held to promote Russian culture and celebrate the holiday.

The Victory Day celebrations at Russian Embassies around the world serve as a testament to the country’s enduring respect for its history and its commitment to promoting patriotism and unity among its citizens living abroad.
