Chairman Royal Choice Inn, Chief Felix Akiga, Pledges N500,000 to ABU Basketball First Class Graduates

In a heartwarming display of support for Ahmadu Bello University’s (ABU) basketball team, Chief Felix Akiga, Chairman of Royal Choice Inn, has pledged to award N500,000 to any basketball player who graduates with a First Class degree.

This generous gesture comes after the team emerged victorious in the 2025 Olumide Oyedeji Intercollegiate 3×3 Basketball Championship.

Chief Akiga, who was present at the team’s victory celebration, presented N100,000 to the winning team and announced the N500,000 pledge, further solidifying his commitment to promoting sports and academic excellence in ABU. The pledge is expected to motivate the players to strive for excellence both on and off the court.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, expressed gratitude to Chief Akiga for his continued support of the university’s sports programs. The university is set to lay the foundation for the ABU Basketball Academy Hostel on August 4th, 2025, further underscoring its commitment to developing sports infrastructure and nurturing talented athletes.

Chief Akiga’s gesture and passion for basketball will continue to promote sports and academic excellence in ABU, and his support is expected to inspire the players to strive for greatness.
