The Management of Ahmadu Bello University held a valedictory session for outgoing Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof Ahmed Doko Ibrahim, on Tuesday, 26th August, 2025. Members of the University Management praised Doko for his unwavering commitment to the university.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed, described Doko as the “most impactful” Deputy Vice-Chancellor in ABU’s recent history. He praised Doko’s counselling and guidance, saying, “Doko’s attitude and commitment to duty are quite exemplary; he is the type who would not spare anything when you seek his advice.”

Prof Ahmed also acknowledged Doko’s instrumental role in the seamless transition that led to his assumption of office as ABU Vice-Chancellor. “I really found Doko tremendously supportive… I relied a lot on him as he carried me along in addition to providing me with full guidance during the transition,” he said.
The Vice-Chancellor extolled Prof Doko’s academic and administrative capacity, expressing gratitude to God as he was leaving office in good health and spirit. Ahmed stressed that his administration would not relent in tapping from Doko’s experience as the university would continue to give him assignments.

The Dean of Students, Prof Sahalu B Junaidu, praised Doko’s record-setting achievements, highlighting his meritorious tenures at ABUCONS and the Directorate of University Advancement.
The Provost, College of Medical Sciences, Prof M. S. Shehu, highlighted Doko’s passion for ABU and his role in building the imposing structure presently housing the Faculty of Allied Sciences at the College of Medical Sciences.
The Director, Directorate of Research and Innovation, Prof J. J. Maina, described Doko as her mentor, saying the outgoing Deputy Vice-Chancellor never allowed sentiments to becloud his sense of judgement. The University Bursar, Malam Aminu Muhammad Bello Gurin, spoke on Doko’s maturity, saying he had learned a lot while working with him.

In his response, Prof Doko thanked the Vice-Chancellor and University Management for their kind words. He expressed gratitude for his experience at ABU, saying, “I really enjoy my stay in ABU; I always like to be honest with myself; and I sleep deeply and wake up without any hangover.” He also sought the forgiveness of all those he worked with, just as he forgave anybody who might have offended him in the course of work.
The ceremony was attended by various members of the University Management, including Prof Aliyu Sanusi Rafindadi, Dr Abubakar Abdullahi Mohammed, Malam Sani Abashe, Prof Dauda M Maigatari, Prof E A Adedokun, Prof Ishaq Abubakar, Arc Suleiman Mohammed, Malam Auwalu Umar, Malam Ashiru T Zango, Hajiya Fatima Ibrahim, Dr Ibrahim Sani Kaita, and Malam Musa Aliu, among others.
