The Federal Capital Territory is poised for a significant expansion of its urban footprint, with Minister Nyesom Wike confirming that the strategic Airport-Kuje dual carriageway will be completed before President Tinubu’s third year anniversary in office. The project aims to fully integrate the area into the capital’s metropolitan core.
During a site inspection on Saturday, the Minister assessed progress of the dual carriageway the Wuye to Ring Road II project, expressing satisfaction with the advanced stages of rock blasting and earthworks. He commended Arab Contractors for their work quality, signaling confidence in the project’s timely delivery.
The Minister described the infrastructure as a game-changer for urban development, promising a dramatic reduction in commute times.
“By the time this road is commissioned, which is not less than eight lanes, it won’t take 15 to 20 minutes to reach the city centre,” Wike stated.
He said, the project is a cornerstone of the administration’s development philosophy, asserting that it would eliminate the need for residents to choose between suburban living and urban access.
“That means residents of Kuje no longer need to relocate to the city before enjoying urban living. That is what development and the Renewed Hope Agenda are all about,” he added.
The road project forms part of a broader initiative that includes enhanced security and improved waste management services across the FCT and its environs.
