Prominent Islamic Cleric In Nigeria, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi is Dead

Renowned Islamic Scholar and Leader of the Tijjaniyyah Sufi order in Nigeria Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, has died on Thursday morning.

Daily Trust reported that His Son, Sayyadi Ali Dahiru Usman Bauchi confirmed his death via a phone call.

“It is confirmed Sheikh has returned to his creator. We are all from Allah and to Him we shall all return. It is time for Sheikh to rest. We thank Almighty Allah. Allah has done everything to us for sparing the life of Sheikh till this time. Sheikh’s life was well spent. Alhamdulillah,” he said.

The Sheikh died at a hospital in Bauchi State at the age of 100, leaving behind wives and hundreds of children and grandchildren.

The Sheikh, who is a vocal advocate of peaceful and harmonious coexistence among Nigerians irrespective of religious or ethnic differences is revered by millions of Nigerian Muslims as a spiritual leader.

His burial rites are expected to take place tomorrow, Friday, and would be laid to rest at either Abuja or Bauchi as confirmed by his son.
