A decisive collaboration between the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and local vigilantes has led to the arrest of five suspected burglars who attacked a residential building in Juwape Phase 2, Mararaba, Nasarawa State.

The suspects were apprehended at about 3:00 a.m. by the New Madeena Community Vigilante Group after they reportedly broke into a four-flat compound, assaulted occupants, and made away with valuables.

In a swift show of coordination, the suspects were immediately handed over to the NSCDC Ruga Madaki II Division.

The NSCDC has since taken charge of the case, with prosecution already underway—reinforcing the Corps’ zero-tolerance stance on criminality and its growing reputation as a dependable force in grassroots security.

Residents say the success of the operation highlights the effectiveness of the NSCDC’s presence in the area, describing the Corps as proactive, responsive, and deeply committed to protecting lives and property.

The Divisional Officer, Mrs. A.I. Mascilian, alongside the Area Commandant, AC Avre of the Muhammadu Buhari International Market Command, are said to be closely supervising the case to ensure the suspects are duly paraded and prosecuted in line with the law.

Chairman of the New Madeena Community, Engr. Lawal Abbas, praised the NSCDC for its professionalism and strong engagement with residents, noting that the synergy between the Corps and the community has significantly reduced criminal threats in the area.

In a further show of support, the community has commenced efforts to upgrade the facilities of the Ruga Madaki II Division to enhance operational efficiency.

However, residents stress that the division, currently covering nearly eight communities requires urgent logistical reinforcement.

They have therefore called on the Commandant General of the NSCDC to provide an operational vehicle to the division, emphasizing that improved mobility will drastically enhance response time and consolidate recent gains in community security.

Stakeholders insist that with sustained institutional backing, the NSCDC will continue to deliver impactful results and deepen public confidence in Nigeria’s security framework.
