The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, declared the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) politically moribund on Thursday, boasting of the ruling party’s expanding dominance across Nigeria.
Speaking at the APC National Summit in Abuja’s Presidential Villa, Ganduje ridiculed the PDP’s internal crises, stating: “The PDP is now gasping for breath. Its house is divided, and its members are trooping into the APC in droves. That is the impact of our performance and leadership.”
The former Kano governor revealed the APC now controls 22 states with another governorship defection imminent, teasing: “One more governor is on the way.” He cited recent off-cycle election victories as proof of the party’s momentum ahead of 2027 polls.
President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and all 22 APC governors attended the strategy summit, signaling unified support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
Ganduje particularly highlighted plans to clinch Anambra in upcoming elections and make inroads in the traditionally PDP-leaning FCT.
“We are preparing strategically, and our recent victories are signs of what is to come,” Ganduje asserted, framing the opposition’s disintegration as collateral damage from the APC’s “political dexterity.” The summit concluded with resolutions to strengthen party structures nationwide ahead of future electoral contests.
