The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Kaduna State Chapter has vehemently distanced itself from a purported inauguration ceremony announced by Malam Nasir El-Rufai, labeling the event “fraudulent” and “illegitimate”. The party stated that it had no knowledge of the event and that neither the State Executive Committee nor recognized stakeholders were consulted or involved in planning the ceremony.
According to the ADC, Malam Nasir El-Rufai’s actions are part of a larger effort to hijack the Coalition process in Kaduna State for personal and political interests. The party emphasized that El-Rufai is not a registered member of the ADC and therefore lacks the authority to organize activities under its name.
The ADC’s Chairman, Elder Patrick Ambut, revealed that El-Rufai had promised to complete his registration after the recently concluded bye-elections but reneged on his promise. Instead, El-Rufai has continued to use the ADC name to parade himself as its leader in Kaduna State, sharing party positions with strange nomenclatures that have no basis in the ADC Constitution or structure.
The party described the inauguration ceremony as “illegitimate” and “of no consequence” to the ADC in Kaduna State. The ADC urged its members, stakeholders, and the general public to disregard the gathering and called on the national leadership of the ADC to intervene and stop El-Rufai’s actions, which it said were weakening party unity.
The ADC emphasized that it remains united under its duly recognized Executive Structure and will not allow individuals to undermine its structures or polarize its members. The party’s Publicity Secretary, Engr. Musa Idris, stated that the ADC is a party of structure, discipline, and collective leadership, and it will continue to work with genuine Coalition partners and stakeholders to build a stronger and united platform.
The ADC’s position highlights the growing tension between the party’s leadership and Malam Nasir El-Rufai, who has been accused of attempting to hijack the party’s coalition process. The party’s leadership has made it clear that it will not tolerate any attempts to undermine its structures or compromise its integrity.
The inauguration ceremony, which was scheduled to hold at the Conference Hall of NUT Endwell Hotel at the Mogadishu layout, Kaduna, has been described as a “one-man show” designed to promote El-Rufai’s personal and political interests. The ADC has warned its members and supporters to steer clear of the event, emphasizing that it is not a legitimate ADC gathering.
The ADC’s call for intervention from the national leadership highlights the party’s commitment to maintaining its integrity and unity. The party’s leadership has emphasized that it will not compromise its values and principles to accommodate individuals who seek to undermine its structures.
The development has sparked concerns about the potential impact on the party’s chances in the 2027 general elections. The ADC’s leadership has emphasized that it will work tirelessly to build a stronger and united platform that can deliver victory and progress for the people of Kaduna State.
