President Bola Tinubu has instructed the Federal Executive Council (FEC) committee to immediately implement measures aimed at further reducing the cost of food nationwide.
The Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, revealed the directive during a capacity-building workshop for Senate correspondents in Abuja. He stated that the President’s plan focuses on ensuring the safe transportation of farm produce to minimize logistics expenses and lower prices for consumers.
Abdullahi explained that the strategy is part of Tinubu’s broader vision of achieving food sovereignty—ensuring not only availability but also affordability, accessibility, and nutrition on a sustainable basis.
He added that the government will soon introduce a farmer soil health program to increase productivity and a reformed cooperative initiative to better support rural farmers.
