President Bola Tinubu’s recent engagements in Kaduna have been hailed as a demonstration of his commitment to representing all Nigerians, transcending political party lines, according to his Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare.

The president’s Friday visit included attendance at the wedding of Nasirudeen, son of former Zamfara governor and current Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, followed by a visit to the family of late former president Muhammadu Buhari.

Dare said the trip was politically significant as it challenged narratives about northern hostility toward Tinubu. He noted that, “It was into this charged political environment, months after opponents had fanned narratives of hostility to him, that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu chose to walk boldly.”

“Whispers of ‘a no-go area’ hung in the air… But the President, true to his character, came unafraid,” he added.

The wedding brought together a diverse political gathering including Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, former House Speaker Aminu Tambuwal, and governors from Katsina, Kebbi, and Sokoto states.

Dare highlighted Tinubu’s warm interaction with former Jigawa governor Sule Lamido, a longtime critic, as particularly symbolic.

“When Lamido approached, President Tinubu did not recoil, nor offer a cold shoulder. Instead, he welcomed him with an expansive smile and hearty laughter,” Dare noted, calling the exchange “a masterclass in citizen diplomacy, showing that politics can be practised without bitterness.”

The media adviser emphasized that the president’s actions reflected both cultural respect and personal empathy.

He added that the visit sent a clear message about Tinubu’s leadership approach: “The politicians present, hardened veterans of the northern firmament, saw a president secure in his mandate and magnanimous in his dealings. It was a subtle but strong reminder: Tinubu is president for all Nigerians, not just for his supporters.”
