The Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Professor Adamu Ahmed, has praised the educational policies of Kano State Governor, Engineer Abbah Kabir Yusuf, noting that they hold great promise for sustainable educational reforms and development.

During a recent courtesy visit to the Governor’s office in Kano, Professor Ahmed commended Governor Yusuf’s unwavering commitment to education, emphasizing that it is the cornerstone of national development. He particularly lauded the Governor’s scholarship initiative, which has far-reaching implications not only for Kano State but also for the entire country.

The Vice-Chancellor also applauded the Governor’s urban renewal initiative, describing it as a visionary endeavor. He further commended the State Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning, Hon AbdulJabbar Umar Muhammad, for his invaluable contributions to the Governor’s urban renewal program and his support for the University. Professor Ahmed described the Commissioner as an invaluable asset to the Governor, particularly in his urban renewal initiatives, and thanked him for his support to the University.

In his remarks, Governor Yusuf emphasized the responsibility that comes with leadership, citing the need to work diligently to develop the North, particularly in the area of education, as envisioned by the late Sardauna. He stressed the importance of supporting Ahmadu Bello University, a pioneering institution in Northern Nigeria that has produced leaders in various fields across the country. The Governor noted that the University, being the first in the region and having given birth to almost all other universities in the North, must be supported by all discerning and patriotic stakeholders.

Regarding the University’s dilapidated infrastructure, which was largely constructed over 60 years ago, the Governor assured Professor Ahmed that his administration is committed to upgrading these facilities to modern standards. He expressed confidence that this goal is achievable, given that several members of his cabinet are alumni of the University, which will ensure that his pledge is implemented with urgency and dedication.
