The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has concluded the nationwide resettlement of 5,532 beneficiaries trained under its Renewed Hope Employment Initiative.
This was announced by the Director-General Dr. Silas Agara during the NDE Special Day at the 36th Enugu International Trade Fair.
According to the DG, the fair themed, “Developing Nigeria’s Industrial Sector SMEs for Economic Advancement and Global Recognition,” resonated deeply with the NDE’s mandate and President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He emphasized that the initiative equips unskilled and unemployed Nigerians with demand-driven skills for self-employment, wealth creation, and poverty reduction.
The NDE has implemented various programs to drive job creation, including the Small Scale Enterprises Programme, Rural Employment Promotion Programme, Special Public Works Programme, and Vocational Skills Development Programme. These programs have promoted economic growth, reduced unemployment, and improved livelihoods nationwide.
“We recognize the importance of collaboration and partnership in driving sustainable development. Together, we can create a more prosperous and inclusive economy that benefits all Nigerians,” Agara said.
He called on government agencies, private sector organizations, and civil society groups to join hands with the NDE to promote SME growth.
Chief Odeiga Jideonwo, President of the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, praised the NDE for growing SMEs and creating employment opportunities, commending their consistency in showcasing services at the fair. The NDE remains committed to creating jobs and empowering Nigerian citizens through its various programs and initiatives.
