The Federal Government has discounted a US court ruling ordering the FBI and DEA to release investigative files related to President Bola Tinubu’s drug case, adding that the documents are old and contain no incriminating findings.

Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga said, “There is nothing new to be revealed. The report by Agent Moss of the FBI and the DEA report have been in the public space for more than 30 years. The reports did not indict the Nigerian leader.”

The ruling was in response to a Freedom of Information Act request filed by American transparency activist Aaron Greenspan.

Judge Beryl Howell ordered the FBI and DEA to lift their “Glomar” responses, citing that the existence of investigative records had already been acknowledged in a 1993 civil forfeiture case.

“The lawyers are examining the ruling,” Onanuga added.
