President Bola Tinubu has ordered Nigeria’s armed forces and security agencies to decisively tackle the worsening insecurity across the country, following a surge in attacks by terrorists and armed herdsmen.
In his Easter message on Friday, Tinubu, who is currently in France, expressed sadness over recent killings and vowed to restore peace.
“The tragic incidents and loss of lives in some parts of our country deeply sadden me, I understand the pain and fear these have caused,” he said.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment, he stated: “My resolve to restore peace and security remains unshakable. Forces of evil will never prevail.”
Tinubu asserted that progress was being made, saying, “With the courage of our security forces, we are reclaiming peace and stability.”
He also addressed economic challenges, promising efforts to stabilise the economy and foster growth.
“We are working tirelessly to restore investor confidence and build an inclusive economy,” he said.
Despite difficulties, Tinubu urged unity, saying: “Together, with faith and determination, there is no obstacle we cannot overcome.”
The directive comes amid escalating violence in Plateau, Borno, Benue, Enugu, and other states.
