In a bid to bolster medical education and professional development in Zanzibar, the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC) has dispatched a team of 35 healthcare specialists, comprising doctors and nurses, to the Tanzanian archipelago.
The deployment was formalized at a ceremony in Abuja on Wednesday, where NTAC Director General Dr. Yusuf Yakub emphasized the program’s role in fulfilling Nigeria’s commitment to sharing expertise with fellow African, Caribbean, and Pacific (ACP) nations.
“Today is a historic day for the corps,” Yakub declared. “To honour the directive of President Bola Tinubu, using soft power diplomacy, the corps is sending 35 TAC volunteers to Zanzibar.”
A former lawmaker himself, Yakub praised President Tinubu for reinforcing Nigeria’s foreign policy of aiding nations requiring specialized support.
The initiative underscores Nigeria’s continued use of technical assistance as a tool for international cooperation.
