The Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has defended the pace of the Tinubu administration’s reforms, arguing that while no government can address every challenge, significant progress is being made to better Nigerians’ lives.
During a media engagement in Abuja on Monday, the former Rivers State governor provided insight into the government’s project implementation strategy.
“All problems cannot be solved, even if this government stays for 20 years; no government can solve all problems,” Wike stated.
“But government is solving problems that will at least help to improve the lives of people.”
The minister explained the rationale behind selective project commissioning: “We take what we think are major, capital-intensive projects, ones where billions of naira have been spent, and showcase those. But when you’re talking about smaller projects, must we commission everything?”
Wike called for media partnership in tracking development: “We’re not saying we’ve done everything. But we are doing what will at least make a difference in the lives of the people, and that’s the whole point of governance.”
“You must appreciate when a government has done well. You don’t need to like the person in charge,” he concluded.
