The Presidency has characterized calls for President Bola Tinubu’s removal as the work of “politically displaced and irrelevant” figures, specifically naming former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai.
In a statement on Monday, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga accused certain politicians of spreading falsehoods and clamoring for the president’s removal after losing their influence. This response comes after El-Rufai reportedly criticized the administration’s pace.
Onanuga defended the government’s record, asserting that it has delivered “tangible results in just two years.” He presented a series of economic indicators to substantiate this claim, stating that the administration has stabilized the exchange rate, reduced inflation for four consecutive months, and grown the GDP by N103.5 trillion.
“Foreign reserves have risen to their highest in 44 months, the stock market has created over N26 trillion in new wealth, and the All Share Index has jumped from 53,000 points to over 140,000 points,” Onanuga wrote.
He also highlighted social programs and fiscal improvements, noting that “indigent students are being supported with a revolutionary loan policy” and that all governors now benefit from increased federal allocations. “The governors said they have never had it so good,” he noted.
Onanuga described the critics as “power-hungry politicians” who plot against Nigeria by seeking Tinubu’s removal.
